Acne

Known symptoms

  • Whiteheads and blackheads
  • Pimples, pustules, or cystic lesions
  • Redness, inflammation, and skin sensitivity
  • Painful or tender skin lesions

Known causes

  • Hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy, or menstrual cycles
  • Excess oil (sebum) production and clogged pores
  • Bacterial overgrowth (Cutibacterium / Propionibacterium acnes)
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Use of certain cosmetics or medications

Care

  • Clinical skin examination by a dermatologist
  • Topical treatments such as retinoids, antibiotics, or benzoyl peroxide
  • Oral medications when required (antibiotics or hormonal therapy)
  • Advanced treatments like chemical peels or laser therapy
  • Gentle skincare routine and regular follow-ups
