Under the Patronage of H.E. Sh. Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, Chairman of The Supreme Council of Health, Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH) will be hosting the Bahrain Diabetes & Endocrinology Review Conference (BDER) on February 21 & 22, 2019 at the Gulf Hotel. The conference is being organised in collaboration with ICOM, QTC, and Ebtikar.
Dr. Sheriff Sahadulla, Chief Executive Officer at RBH said, “We are pleased to host the BDER Conference with our partners. Over the years, diabetes has emerged as a major lifestyle disease affecting the aspect of quality in one’s life. The demands of diabetes care, such as eating healthy, exercising, monitoring blood glucose require careful scheduling and planning. Through the upcoming BDER Conference, we expect medical experts to enhance their knowledge and familiarise themselves with new protocols.”
Further adding, Dr. Wiam Hussein, Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Chairman of the BDER Conference, has emphasized on the importance of the conference taking place in Bahrain as 14.7 per cent of the adults in the country are suffering from diabetes, and it has been forecasted that around 25 percent of the adults in the GCC region will suffer from diabetes by the year 2030.
Dr. Hussein also said that the 2-day conference has attracted elite doctors and specialists from local and international arena to elaborate on the updated diagnosis, management and treatment of diabetes and endocrinology diseases.
“Our conference is aligned with the strategic objectives of the national plan of prevention and treatment of the chronic diseases and diabetes aimed to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and its health and economical complications, through the implementation of prevention and treatment initiatives. The outcomes and the recommendations of this conference are expected to play a major role in supporting such a national prevention plan,” said Dr. Hussein.
